Care and Use
Here are some tips to make your fins last longer and get the most out of them
Care:
• Carry them safely: remember that they are made of fiberglass and you must take the necessary care so that you do not have accidents or unforeseen events. Make sure your suitcase protects them and when traveling with them they are safe
• After each practice, remove the chlorine from the pool with water
• Do not leave them exposed to the sun to preserve the rubber materials.
• Check the fins from time to time: these pieces are glued and it is possible that they will come off with use. You can reaffirm them with instant glue
Use:
• Wet the fin shoe in the pool and apply a little soap to the edges and your feet so that it goes in easily. Some athletes use Vaseline for this purpose and also to prevent peeling
• If you feel that they do not fit you well, use neoprene toe caps, but only on the tips of your feet so that you do not have more pressure on the instep of your foot
• Be careful that someone stands/sits on top of your fins, when you are not in the water
• Do not press them hard against hard surfaces (e.g. floor, walls, edges and other elements of the pool). Fiberglass has a range of flexibility, but if you go over the limit, breakages can occur.
If you are not used to using fiberglass fins, we recommend that you do ankle strengthening exercises to optimize their use and avoid injuries.
